Wallace Lam is currently Managing Director and Co-Head of Global Banking for Hong Kong at HSBC, covering some of the Bank’s largest corporate relationships in this market.
He joined the Bank in 1995 as a Graduate Trainee. Throughout the years, he has worked in various departments including Global Trade and Receivables Finance, Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Commercial Banking and Risk, Corporate Banking, Debt Capital Markets before becoming Head of High Yield Capital Markets and Commercial Banking Syndicated Loans Origination for Asia-Pacific in 2012. Wallace then became Country Head of Client Coverage for Commercial Banking in China and ascended to his current role in January 2018.
Outside of his professional career, Wallace is a member of the Hong Kong Housing Society and serves on its Supervisory Board as well as its Special Committee on Investment. From 2009 to 2012, he served as an external mentor for the Central University of Finance and Economics in Beijing. He is also a permanent member of the Hong Kong United Youth Association, which he served as a Director in 2007.
Wallace graduated from the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley, USA, with double-emphases in Finance and Marketing.
