Her Excellency Apiradi Tantraporn was named Minister of Commerce of Thailand on August 19, 2015. She previously held the positions of Deputy Minister of Commerce, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Director-General of the Department of Foreign Trade, and Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiations.
Her Excellency was posted to Geneva first as a Counselor (1985-1989), Minister (1995-1997), and Ambassador to the World Trade Organization (1999-2002), where she was Thailand’s chief negotiator in various bilateral and multilateral negotiations. She has also held the position of Senior Economic Officer in ASEAN SEOM and APEC. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Bachelor’s Degree from Thammasat University, and a Master’s Degree in International Trade from Syracuse University in the U.S.
